tmux is a terminal multiplexer that lets you run and switch between many programs in a single terminal, splitting it into panes and windows that persist across disconnects. Nearly every command is issued through a prefix key (CTRL-B by default) followed by a second key, so the shortcuts below are written as that two-step sequence.
